Apple Holds Talks With Intel, Samsung For US Chipmaking

Apple has held discussions with Intel and Samsung Electronics about potentially manufacturing chips for future Apple devices in the United States, Bloomberg News reported on Monday.

The talks are part of Apple's broader effort to diversify its semiconductor supply chain and reduce reliance on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), which currently produces the vast majority of Apple's chips.

According to the report, Apple executives have visited Samsung's semiconductor facilities in Texas and also engaged in preliminary discussions with Intel Foundry Services.

No final decisions have been made, and the discussions remain exploratory, Bloomberg said.

Apple is seeking greater supply-chain resilience amid rising geopolitical tensions and increasing demand for advanced AI chips that are consuming leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing capacity.
